Marta Kowalczyk...
...was born in Koszalin, Poland, in 1991.
She started her violin education at the age of 7 in the Grażyna
Bacewicz Complex of State Music Schools in Koszalin in the class of Professor
Jolanta Libicka and continued in the class of Professor Małgorzata Kobierska.
At present, she is a student at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw
perfecting her instrumental skills in the class of Professor Jan Stanienda.
In 2008 Marta won the all-nation competition for Poland’s representative
at the Eurovision Young Musicians and represented her country at the final event in Vienna.
She is also a laureate of numerous prizes and distinctions
of national and international competitions, including inter alia:
- 1st Prize at the All-Poland Competition "Junior Paganini" (2006),
- 1st Prize at the All-Poland Tadeusz Wroński Violin Competition (2006),
- 1st Prize at the All-Poland Competition in Honour of Groblicz Family in Cracow (2007),
- 1st Prize and Special Award of the European Union of Music Competitions for
Youth (EMCY) for the best artistic personality at the Violin Competition in Bled,
Slovenia (2007)
- 1st Prize and EMCY Special Award for the best artistic personality at the Petar Konjović
Young Musicians Competition in Belgrade, Serbia (2009).
- 4st Prize at the 4th International Tadeusz Wroński Solo Violin Competition (2009).
- 3 st Prize at the 18th International Johannes Brahms Competition Pörtschach (2011).
- 1 st Prize All-Poland Competition for Duo with Piano (Łukasz Chszęszczyk – piano) (2012).
Marta gave concerts in many countries of Europe, as well as in China, Canada, USA and Russia.
She performed many times with her home Koszalin Philharmonic Orchestra and gave concerts with such
renowned ensembles as Sinfonia Varsovia, Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra,
Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra (Fesival Chopin and his Europe), Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra
and The Polish Radio Orchestra conducted by excellent directors: Antoni Wit,
Jacek Kasprzyk, Ruben Silva, Sławomir Chrzanowski, Bogusław Dawidow, Hobart Earle,
Jan Stanienda and Łukasz Borowicz. In 2011, Marta performed as a soloist on a tour
through the United States with the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra for two months.
She is a holder of scholarships granted her by the National Fund for Children managed
by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the “Young Poland” scholarship
program and Sinfonia Varsovia.
